The Mavis Berry & Helen Allen School of Dance provides an excellent standard of dance classes and classical training for children aged three and above.

The dance school, based at The United Reformed Church in Leyland, is renowned within the area for its great reputation and has been established since 1953. The school is managed by Mavis Berry and her daughter Helen Allen with the support of professionally trained senior and student teachers.

After training with the British Ballet Organization in Classical Ballet, both Mavis and Helen have also achieved qualifications with the I.S.T.D spanning across all types of dance including Modern Jazz, Tap and Classical Greek.

The school aims to give all children and students every opportunity to progress, develop and achieve their best potential within the world of dance. Whilst the highest level of self-discipline is expected from all pupils, we also like to create a fun, friendly environment where individual expression and enjoyment is always encouraged.

Our pupils are offered opportunities to become professional dancers and teachers across the world and many of our pupils are involved in school performances at the Charter Theatre Preston and the Blackpool Opera House.

The school also offers pupils the opportunity to take examinations with well-recognised examining boards in Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz and Classical Greek.

Former pupils of the school have performed with Princess Cruises, National Tour with Spirit of the Dance, National Tour of Beauty & The Beast, Mirage Productions, Costa Serena based in Shanghai and have also established dance schools of their own across the world.
