Testimonials

Gwen Hallam (former pupil)I started at Mavis Berry and Helen Allen's dance school at the age of 3, this soon became like a second home to me, as I enjoyed every moment I had there. Not only did I enjoy dancing, but I gained so much from being a pupil at this dance school. I gained a love of music and dance, confidence and some wonderful memories, I also made some life long friends. Mavis and Helens classical and modern training techniques enabled me to enter the profession as a dancer. Thanks to nurture and caring of Miss Berry and MIss Helen I am now embarking on my career as a professional dancer. I have recently completed a National Tour with the show "SPIRIT OF THE DANCE".

Catherine Mitchell (former pupil)I worked professionally as a dancer/singer/actress in musical theatre for six years: the photo shows me as Belle in the National Tour of "Beauty and The Beast" in 2003. Currently I am a teacher of dance and exercise. Over ten years as a pupil of Mavis Berry and Helen Allen, I developed a strong dance technique that secured a place at one of the most prestigious vocational colleges in the country, Bird College. The body-mind awareness and discipline, instilled in me through Miss Berry and Miss Helen's high standard of teaching, has been of great benefit to me in professional and personal life. Their support and encouragement opened up many opportunities to me: enabled me to meet interesting and inspiring like-minded people and led me to the joy of expressing myself through dance.

Beth Bertsch (formerly Evans) My 15 years training firstly as a student and later as an assistant teacher proved to be an invaluable base for my further training and career and was also a hugely important part of the first 18 years of my life. The quality of teaching and care given is of the highest standard and the opportunites offered to me to develop my skills and confidence through performance, competitions, courses and teacher training are experiences I look back on with fondness and gratitude. Most importantly I learned to love dancing which is a gift every child should be offered and will remain with me for life.
