The school has performed at both the Blackpool Opera House and the Charter Theatre Preston.
For many years the school has taken part in Hits from Great Musicals, the last number performed at the Blackpool Opera House was “Chicago” 2006.

The last school show was held in March 2003 to celebrate fifty years of teaching by Mavis Berry.
The school show had rave reviews and the pupils had a very enjoyable time.
On the final show night previous pupils from the school joined Mavis Berry on stage to her surprise. Mavis was presented with a Lifetime Award from the British Ballet Organization by her daughter Helen Allen. The award was in recognition of her commitment to her school and the British Ballet Organization over fifty years.

Alice Halliday (former pupil)I stepped into my first pair of ballet shoes at the age of three and began classes at the Mavis Berry and Helen Allen School of dance. The school became like a second home to me and I gained so much from being a pupil, my confidence improved and I learnt to appreciate all kinds of music and made some lifelong friends.

Mavis and Helen’s training in both classical and modern dance enabled me to gain a place at Preston Dance College, and after studying there for three years I am now finally embarking on a career as a professional dancer. I am currently performing on the Princess Cruise Liner in the United States.
